Aston Villa manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 McLeish has asked his players to put in a worthy performance on the weekend after a number of players were involved in a brawl at a nightclub.
The Villans turned out be to be the villains as the club has taken disciplinary action against three of their own players following an incident at a night club that saw http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/James-Collins-c17687 and Fabian Delph all involved.
The incident took place in the early hours of Tuesday as the trio were continued the celebrations following the club’s annual awards dinner, before things got a bit out of hand.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabian-Delph-c13098 was injured during the incident and will not play on the weekend, while both Herd and Collins will be available for selection come their Barclays Premier League match.
Aston Villa manager, Alex McLeish, came down hard on the players when he said, “It’s a slur on the club. I feel for (club owner) Randy Lerner and the fans of Aston Villa Football Club but the players need to show some respect for themselves and the football club.”
Moving on McLeish explained that such incidents were not uncommon and happened to a number of clubs in the Barclays Premier League when the players lose their discipline.
He said, “It happens at every club. It happens at even the top clubs. It’s the culture of one pint too many.”
“It doesn’t matter how old you are or how young you are. They have to take responsibility and we’re still getting these kinds of incidents week-in and week-out.”
However, the Aston Villa manager was quick to try and use the situation to rally his players when he said, “They owe us. They have to give us a performance that we will be proud of.”
Aston Villa still find themselves in the middle of a relegation dog-fight and will be looking to pick up at least a point on the weekend although the players, manager and the fans will be aiming to secure all three points if possible.
Either way it seems that the relegation battle will go all the way down to the wire and the last game of the season.
