  1. The school district will receive the scores from the state usually in late September. Their data teams will go over and record the results before sending them to each individual school. The individual schools then usually account for their students and check for obvious errors (like no scores for a child that did take test, etc.). Each school also has its own (in small districts may be group of schools) data team. These members also record the scores; which become a part of your child's record. These data teams will analyze these results for months! The scores are grouped by grade, race, low income, English as 2nd language, SPED, etc. There are very detailed specific formulas that must be applied in order to find out if Adequate Yearly Progress is being made within each school, each grade AND each subgroup. From that info, school councils & administrators, by law, have to submit a plan each year to show how they will change certain curriculum and/or teaching methods in order to meet AYP. VERY long & detailed process (you'll have your child's results before the Data Tem is done).

SO, as far as a parent is concerned (or student), your child (or you) SHOULD receive his/her MCAS scores in late October/early November. MOST SCHOOLS send home the MCAS results with your child's first report card of the year. Hope that helps. My oldest just finished 3rd grade and he tested in the Reading & Math MCAS. I am also eagerly awaiting his results!!!
