i am doing a debate in class and it is about opening a mcdonalds in calcutta, India (i know it spelled wrong).

and i am going against it!

some of my reason why opening mcdonalds in culcutts is bad are...

- mostly there are hindus and hindus dont eat pork or beef..especially on tues and fri and so on...

- most people there likes to eat cultural foods as india is one of the some countries that follows cultures...

  1. People there wouldn't like Mcdonald's cuz of the pork and beef. Also they would open one and nobody would go there. Spending millions on the building and food. There goes $1 million of their money.

    THEY SHOULD NOT OPEN ONE

  2. The money will go to a foreign country.

  3. What are they going to sell ice cream and french fries? You do have a good point. A majority of hindus do not eat any meat much less hamburgers which is what mcdonalds is famous for. They would not last a week. If you ask me that is take away some indian culture and replacing it with american culture.

That is just my opinion, but.............whatever

  4. Hey Cowsi,

I am not either for Mc or anti Mc.

First part of my answer i.e. not related to your debate points

One...it is strange that your school is setting up a debate on a junk food brand name...first tell your school that it is unethical to do indirect marketing for these guys specially a junk food brand. Your brain space is being sold for money...get intelligent. If I were u I would give the school the 'F' word.

Two...other than beef and pork, lamb and chicken exists which major sections of Hindus do eat. Orthodox Hindus dont touch any kind of meat whatever the day may be.

Three...Calcutta is a Metro where Hindus, Muslims, Christians and many other sects of people live peacefully. Hence, it is still a good business prospect.

Four...you mentioned you spelt something wrong...what is that? Calcutta, India and Mc D all are correct...you seem to be ignorant about all the important spellings. Where exactly r u from?

Now about your debate points against the motion:

    1. McD burgers tastes like rubber.

2.McD outlet is not safe...the last one literally exploded and killed people. Check out the news article at

    http://www.hindustantimes.com/StoryPage/...

    3. It does not offer the same international taste that other international outlets offer.

    Hope this helps.
