Is McDonald's a good company to work for or is it really degrading like society thinks? I'm quitting my current job to work over there. I'm hoping to move up with the company and hopefully become manager. Any advice or ideas? I'm a little embarassed because of the job, but whatever.

  1. Almost any job is better than working at Mcdonalds. You will always smell like grease and fast food. You should definitly get another job!!!!

  2. Getting a job at mcds is nothing to be embarassed about.  i worked my way up to store manager and the classes i went are now worth college credits.  you meet some great people.    they have a great insurance plan.  and even if it isnt something you want to stick with it looks great on a resume.  just think of it as running a multi million dollar business.  and even if staying there isnt what you want they have so many more options in the corporate world.  you can be an area supervisor you can help teach at hamburger university, you can even help  creat new food items.  the options are endless dont let what society thinks dictate what you want to do with your life.

  3. macdonalds is a  good company to work for .if you like what your doing and try hard to do the best you will be promoted up to more responsiable jobs. good like

  4. You have to be super-active, extremely friendly, a lot of tolerance... and great sales skills..

  5. yea....go 2 college n get A REAL JOB!

  6. My sister in law worked there as a manager while she attended college. She seemed to enjoy it, but she did not stay there. If you go & work  there for 6-12 months & like it & are promoted then good for you. But if you're stuck in a rut & nothing is happening, look for a new job.....it's best to get the pay & experience than not. Just because you take a job doesn't mean you are stuck there for life!

  7. its ok...it is a little degrading......just when somebody asks you where you work say "the Mickey D Social Area" or to quote from dane cook, work at burger king "yeah..i work a the BK Lounge"

  8. i have no freakin idea

  9. my best friend from Elemetary skl works at teh McDonalds by my house ad we are both the same age-16, she really enjoys it...

  10. The job sucks. I wouldn't recommend it.

  11. I don't think it's degrading because you are out there with an actual job unlike some people who sit around on their butts and have us tax payers pay for them to do nothing but "spread 'em and multiply"! I'm a full time student majoring in pre-med and I sub-teach on my days I don't have classes and I'm about to get  another job on top of that which will probably be at the mcdonalds behind my house! I say you should go ahead and work it and maybe take a class or two at a time to higher your degree in your field! Good Luck!!

  12. Um I'm only 13 but if you really think it's worth it and you can make something out of it go for it! I think you should just use that money to save up for college or a better job thought, I'm sure it would be totally worth it. But my 17 year old sister works there and she seems to like it!

  13. A jobs a job, tho you might want to try IN AND OUT BURGER they pay their employees great. More then minimum wage.

  14. i've heard from many people who work there, that they love it! plus you can have the cooks in the back cook you anything you'd like! that of course is according to my neighbor!

  15. it is not that bad becuase kids bug there parents to go there and if you do your best and do what ever the manager says you will work your way up so good luck i hope i was the best answer well i am a kid of 11 so i should know micdonaleds lol

  16. Go to college

  17. Ideally people classify any job without a college or trade degree degrading. With McDonalds, it's a company that over time you can work to get to become a manager, i.o.w, you move up in that company. Many Celebs have done jobs at places like McDonalds and other places similar.

  18. Whats your new job you applied for?

Mininum wage with a what degree?

  19. Dont work there, you can do better than that.

  20. I haven't worked there personally, but I think McDonalds is unfairly demonized in some ways.

In general, fast food isn't looked upon incredibly highly, but for some reason people look at McDonalds like it's worse than other places for some reason.  Maybe it's just because it's by far the biggest chain.

I say that anyone who's out there working hard deserves a lot of credit, because a lot of those people who are bashing people who work fast food might be sitting at home collecting unemployment checks.

I think it's good that you're already looking toward management there.  That shows that you have a desire to move up, and maybe your attitude will even help get you into a more professional career.  Just remember not to sell yourself short.

One last thing:  It's easy for some of these people to say "ooh get a real job".  Hmm.. it's funny that they're sitting on Yahoo answers using poor grammar to tell other people to get a real job.  Maybe those are the same people I was talking about in the previous paragraph.

I've known plenty of successful people who haven't gone to college and have become very successful.  I'm personally in Grad school, but that's my own path.  Best of luck to you!

  21. everyone i know that have worked there say its the worst. they hate every minute of it if you went to college go somewhere better if you want to be a manager work at wal mart or something thats a little better
