Mclaren deny speculations of a black livery in 2011
The Formula 1 team Mclaren ruled out the rumors of a black color livery for their car in the 2011 season. There were many speculations by the international media that the team will not be using silver in 2011.
The Mclaren team officials confirmed that the team will be using the same colors that it has been using since 2007. A team official stated, “Black livery? Er, no: the same Rocket Red & chrome finish that you’ve grown to love since Vodafone McLaren Mercedes
was born in 2007.”
The team started using the red and silver combination for the livery of the car after the partnership with the German giant Mercedes and telecommunication group Vodafone.
The rumors were ignited after Mercedes sold a large number of shares they owned at Mclaren and participated in the Formula 1 season as a new team. The Mercedes team participated in the sport after buying the Brawn GP which was the winner of the 2009 season.
Apart from Mclaren, the other team that uses silver color in their livery is Mercedes. The difference in the two teams is that Mercedes uses black with silver compared to the red and silver of Mclaren.
Whatever livery the team uses, the thing that matters at the end of the day is the performance of the car and the drivers, throughout the season. The British team did well in the 2010 season and both drivers of the team Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button were
title contenders.
The team finished second in the constructors championship in 2010 and are expected to be amongst the front-runners in 2011 as well, alongside Ferrari and Red Bull.
Jenson Button was the winner of the 2009 season with Brawn GP and he moved to Mclaren in 2010. His seat was filled in Mercedes by the seven time former Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher who returned to the sport after three years.
The Mclaren team will be looking forward to put an end to the Red Bull dominance and win the constructors title next year.
