Mcvicar chasing a hat-trick in JCB Triumph Hurdle Trial
Mcvicar will be looking forward to record a hat-trick of victories over hurdles by claiming the JCB Triumph Hurdle Trial (Registered As The Prestbury Juvenile Hurdle Race) Grade 2 at Cheltenham in England on Saturday, November 17, 2012.
The all important event has attracted some quality stallions and the competition will be a tough one. It will not be easy for one particular runner to dominant the proceedings, thus the spectators will be looking forward to a thrilling battle.
There has been some rain overnight at Cheltenham, but it has not affected the conditions badly. The organisers have described the going as good to soft and they will be hoping that things improve before the start of action at 12:45 GMT.
The total distance to cover for all participants will be 2 miles and 110 yards, which will test their endurance. The winner of the class-1 competition will be given a cash prize of £14,238 in the end.
Although, the horses lined up for action do not have a lot of experience, yet they have the ability to spice up the competition. According to the bookies, Far West has the best chances of winning the race.
Therefore, he has been given the highest odds for victory and will enter the contest with a starting price of 7 to 4. He will definitely attract a lot of bets from the punters, but things will certainly not be easy for him today.
Overall, the three-year-old gelding has appeared in a couple of races over hurdles and his performances in them were quite impressive. He managed to be victorious once whereas finished in third place in the other.
On the other hand, Mcvicar has got more experience compared to the favourite runner, but he too has not participated in a lot of hurdles, which makes things even between them.
However, the Alan King’s trainee will be more confident of winning the race today, as he likes running in this form of racing. He has contested in a couple of hurdles, winning both of them. A similar result will help him record the first ever hat-trick of
his career in the sport.
The young gelding has enjoyed the company of veteran jockey, Robert Thornton, over the past couple of events and will pair up with him once again at Cheltenham.
