Me and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JH-Kallis-c1692 will have to take the responsibility in the pressure matches, says Gautam Gambhir – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447, the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is delighted with his team’s progress in the on-going fifth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) but has warned his team of complacency ahead of the play-off stage of the tournament.
Historically, KKR has not done that well in the cash-rich league but Gambhir and company have been absolutely brilliant in the current season. At the present moment, Kolkata is at the top of the points table with 17 points after 12 matches and has almost
secured a place for the play-offs.
The franchise has the services of a number of high-profile cricketers like Jacques Kallis, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shakib-Al-Hasan-c2492. However, the forte of KKR in the current season has been its team-work as the boys have gelled well
as a unit to achieve success for their team.
As the tournament is coming down to the crucial stages, KKR’s skipper understands that he will have to take the responsibility of posting huge runs on the board along with Kallis, as both are extremely experienced players at the highest stage of the game.
Gambhir wants his stroke-players, McCullum and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/YK-Pathan-c2815 to keep on playing their natural game, because this is in the best interests of the team.
Gambhir said, "If someone has to change the game, it should be Kallis or me. We don't want [Brendon] McCullum or Yusuf Pathan to change their game. It's our responsibility because we are the experienced guys. You don't want them to stop playing their natural
game. The guys like me and Kallis need to change the game and that is what responsibility and experience is all about."
With 457 runs in just 11 fixtures, the left-hander has led his team from the front. He has been absolutely brilliant in the current season with the bat as well as with his captaincy and wants to keep on inspiring his team.
"I've been hitting the ball well this season. You need to be aggressive in your approach. You have to pass on that body language among team-mates, which is very important,” the opening batsman added.
