If anyone has been then could you possibly recommend places to go and things to do there? Also we are staying at the Riu Cancun, has anyone stayed there?

  1. Went to Cancun a month ago! If you have access to a car you might want to visit Tulum - it's not TOO far away and has the most awesome beach you have ever seen. Also, there are lots of Mayan ruins near Cancun I think. If you can, try and get to Puerto Morelos too - it has a lovely beach and little town centre. If you get up early, you can see pelicans on the beach! And there is a botanical gardens (Alfredo Barrera) that's worth a visit in Puerto Morelos too, run by ECOSUR.

    Try this site too: http://www.docancun.com/cancun-activitie...

  2. The Riu Cancun is right smack dab in the middle of the party zone. It is a larger resort with a very nice beach. There is a sports bar, night club, swim up bar, etc. You will also be able to visit the Riu Caribe right down the street. I would recommend taking the public bus there since it would be quite a walk. The bus costs 65 pesos (roughly 65 cents) per person and they run 24/7. The Riu Palace Las Americas is right next door to the Riu Cancun, however you will not have access to it. Since you are right in the middle of everything you will be able to walk to most major bars and nightclubs in 10 minutes or less. Try Coco Bongos and for a nice beer outside try the Corona Lounge. If you are into culture, be sure to visit Chitzen Itza. Be prepared for a long and very hot day but it is one of the most fantastic sights you will ever see. Hope this helps. Ask if you need any more details, I'd be glad to help. 71 more sleeps for us!! *******     ps3bunny has posted that you have access to the Riu Palace which is NOT right, Riu Palace guests can use ANY Riu property, whereas Riu Cancun and Riu Caribe guests can visit each others resorts. Hope this clears this up a little.

  3. Me and my GF are going in April too staying in Riu Caribe Cant wait 12 April for 2 weeks. Ive heard X-caret is good. Coco Bongos and Senior frogs in the evening. Any one else in the riu caribe around this time?

  4. The Oasis is good and also call 1-888-862-3806 for help booking.

They will give you ideas for fun too like:

Definately the Swim with Dolphins, this is fantastic especially if you go to Dolphin Discovery on Isla Mujeres, as you have a 40 minute boat ride there and back with open bar and entertainment.

The Captain Hook Pirate ships are another fun thing to try.

A Jungle tour through the mangroves, with snorkelling over the Coral reefs.

If you´re into diving, then Call Ben Mooney at http://www.mayanaquadive.com as he knows some great dive sites.

Xcaret is a wonderful day out, as you get to enjoy an ecopark, with dolphins, turtles ect and then get to watch probably the best show in the whole of Mexico at night.

A catamaran trip with http://www.cancuncatamarans.com is a must, a day sailing and snorkeling, with buffet lunch on Isla Mujeres, open bar, a shopping trip and the chance to have your picture taken holding a live shark.

At night, try the Cancun Party Hopper, there are now 2 different versions going to different bars, and they are great fun.

    Hope this helps.

  5. Very Beautiful and Fun!  I stayed at the Riu Palace Las Americas next to the Riu Cancun.  When you stay at the Riu, you have privileges at both hotels. Gotta hit the town at night! It lights up like Las Vegas. Hit the clubs all night long and Enjoy!!! I'm a beach bum but there are plenty of things to do in Cancun. If your interested in snorkeling or swimming with the Dolphins, check out the tours. Or stay on the beach and rent a waverunner! Have A Blast!!!

  6. Haven't been there yet, but going soon with my hubby!!  I can't wait to be in the warm weather and on the beach!!!

  7. I can recommend something NOT to do.

Do not try to use the city buses between 4 - 6 PM when local workers are getting off work.  Otherwise, the city buses are pretty good transportation to town and back.

    Have fun!

  8. i've been to that hotel it is great and i recommend you to go to X-Caret and Tulum and Chichen-Itza and go snorkiling but if you go in april remember to put sun screen or else you'll get burned trust me
