  1. o.k.  something similiar happened to me.  I am an American and I married a Canadian and while we were waiting for my PR to come through I got pregnant.  The key was that we were already married and I already had an application in process but Alberta Health picked me up and instantly handled all the prenatal visits and delivery.

So, first of all, you need to have some kind of status  in Canada.  I suggest that you apply for temporary residence and keep that until the application for permanent residence can go through.  Yes, you should get married ASAP.

You do not have to be a citizen to get provincial health care but you have to show that you are intending to stay  here by having an application for permanent residence in process.

you can email me if you like----I don't know if any of this is coming out right. lonyad@yahoo.com

  2. If you get married, you will become his dependent and as such, he may file an application to sponsor you. Once approved, you will then be issued a Permanent Resident Visa and will be entitled to benefits accompanying it.
