we are plannin on bringing a portable stove with us so we can make our own breakfast and lunch. But as far as dinner goes. Are there any good restaurants in st. thomas that are not expensive?

  1. If you're thinking about that whole "camping" thing, look into Cinnamon Bay campgrounds and Maho Bay campgrounds on St. John instead of staying on St. Thomas.  These are modestly priced [for the Virgin Islands] platform tents with cooking facilities and solar showers.  St. John will be less busy than St. Thomas [with all the cruise ship crowds] and is more beautiful.

Or look into renting an apt/condo so you'll have cooking facilities.  HomeAway.com has a list of rentals.

In your other question you asked about "something cheaper" that's all-inclusive.  St. Thomas isn't known for AIs and nothing is "cheap" in the Virgin Islands.  If you want to vacation there, it's going to cost.

  2. i agree with the answer above me.

st. johns is ten times better than st. thomas. it's beautiful and has a lot less crime. i've stayed at both maho and cinnamon bay. and they are both really nice. I've been on two trips to st. johns, the first we stayed at maho and the second we spent half at cinnamon and half at maho. if i were you i'd do that. i did prefer maho though, the food and staff were better. but at cinnamon you are only a beach away from kenny chesneys beach and house (that is where his famous old blue rocking chair is, sitting right on the beach), which is kind of cool. haha. well have fun!

i have a bunch of pictures of both places, if you'd like to email me at mbarr92@yahoo.com (sorry they just arent loading on here)
