  1. It should be, "My fiancée and I..."

    1.  You would never say, "Me just got an apartment."  However, you might say, "I just got an apartment."

    2.  Pretend that you are opening a door for your fiancée.  Because you are a polite and courteous young man, you allow your fiancée to pass through the doorway first.

Well, the same is true in English.  Your fiancée goes first - as do your friends.  You would say, "Tom, d**k, Harry and I recently rented an apartment."

If you remember to open the door for your fiancée, you will also improve your grammar.

Please correct any mistakes that I might have made.  Thanks.

  2. You may have a long wait.  Did you inspect the apartment and talk to the building manager on-site?  Did you prepay for the apartment and shipping?  $150 to ship a key is way too much.

    Scam Alert: Apartments

    May 30, 2008 - 4:31 pm

Keep your eyes peeled for a brand new scam targeting apartment seekers. The listings we've seen all have the same story: the current tenant has to move to another country immediately, and wants the apartment seeker to pay them a deposit without seeing the apartment first.

As with all classifieds, it is always best for you to see what you are paying for before you pay. If, however, you are moving to a new area and cannot see an apartment in person before moving, a safe bet is to use a rental agency.
