Me and my friend were drunk and ordering a Chinese takeaway, and I saw a menu item called "vegetarian chicken"

Question

I started taking the pis, asking what it was and I said "was the chicken a vegetarian"... the woman explained that it was not chicken but made from tofu and I pointed this out and we were laughing about it and the woman seemed pized off, but why advertise it as "chicken" when it is not, have you ever tried vegetarian chicken?

It's a Vegetarian alternative made from Wheat Gluten that is flavoured. In China and some Restaurants in the UK you can get this, also Duck & Abalone alternative.

If the Chef is inventive these foods can be very tasty and better than some cheap meats that are served in many restaurants.

true it sounds ridiculous but when you are working on a take=away you don't feel like listening to the jokes of drunk people which I guess justifies why the woman was pissed off [after all I doubt she chose the name]

i got drunk and walked into a chinese takaway singing Beef Chow Mein to the tune of Adam Ants prince Charming, i even did the hand dance thing, the place erupted with laughter, but the chinese owners didnt seem amused

I can't eat soy products  because of a thyroid condition and I certainly wouldn't want to get that by mistake.It should be called tofu chicken!Tofu is disgusting anyway.

That is funny. And yes I have. I used to buy these veg burgers which were made to look and taste like chicken.

The Chinese have an ancient proverb ; 'when dealing with drunken louts late at night, never use words like 'tofu' or soya as this confuses them--instead, go for the humorous approach with a play on words; the English find the notion of 'vegetarian chicken' totally HIRARIOUS !!!!! LOL

Because vegitarians like a label on everything, they like everyone to know they don't eat meat, but it amazes me why they have to tell everyone, i have a friend who orders a vegatarian salad, i thought if it was a salad it was  vagetarian, i eat meat but i don't need to tell anyone i just order what i want. i don't say i'm a carnivor and i want a meat steak. they are just idiots and have not meet one that isn't. Gordon Ramsey's F word this week said it all 50 veggies all eating meat and 46 of them loved it !
