me and my brother ( we r twins at 18 yrs old) got a car recently with the help of my dad. i could pay the whole thing by myself because i am a manager at Mcdonalds. meanwhile he makes less but still wants part in it too. i know that if hypothetically i were to move out soon ( because i am planning to), we would have to split things up and the car is gonna have to go to one of us.he also could use my dads 99 explorer or 02 avalanche meanwhile i keep the 02 mustang, should i continue sharing to just pay it off and have it myself?

  1. discuss this with your dad and brother.

  2. share! your twins your supposed to! i with i had a twin to share things with!  Sharing is Caring!!

  3. If I were you, I would continue sharing.  I also have a twin brother and we share a car.  until one of you moves out and you actually HAVE to split your stuff and one take the car, I would just keep sharing.  if you were to split it now and buy the car away, it can cause unnecessary contention and hard feelings.  when it has to be done, its not quite as bad.

  4. Whoever owns the car pays for it...My advice is let him get his own car.. If he agreed to share the costs of the purchase from the beginning and you both agreed to that then both pay for the costs...Im also a Twin and I would not share the costs because it would cause too much trouble e.g Either one of you would be argueing about who has the car next etc...

  5. If you're dad helped you BOTH then the right thing to do would be to share. What were his intentions on you both sharing a vehicle if you'll be moving out soon!? Like you said, someone will have to get the car, you can't share it if you don't live together. In that case, then yes, you should pay for it and have it, if you are the one with the income to do so. I would talk it over with your father first, if he put money into it for both of you then you might need or want to pay him or your brother back for their "share" of the cost.
