Until now, I haven't receive any letter from the revenue. Cause before I was asking my employer to give me my T4 but instead she told me that they will going to do my income tax and then give me the copy of the ITR and T4. Along with that I gave her the T4 of my first employer. So that it will also be declared. In my first employer, I've been there for 5 weeks and in my second employer. she should declared it 10 weeks. I'm just worried cause everytime I asked her about the copy of my income tax, she's a bit mad and she told me to wait. So I just want to make it sure if it's ok to call the revenue about that. Thanks

  1. I'm assuming that all your employer did was send in the portion of your pay that the employer withholds for federal tax.

In that case you still need to file income tax normally, you just more than likely do not need to pay any more money.

  2. how could your employer have done your tax return for you?! they don't know your situation! SCAM

  3. I'm no expert on taxes, but that's sounds like a bunch of c**p. I've never heard of an employer filing taxes for an employee. i would call the IRS or go to their website. sound like your employer is going to get you in deep doo.

  4. Employers do NOT file your income tax return for you.  Your signature is needed on the form.  Insist on your T4's... and file your own tax return, now!  T4s need to be provided to employees no later than the last day of February.  It's the law.  Sounds like your employer is up to something fishy.

  5. I read your question over several times and am I bit confused. Perhaps your employer is talking about filing your T4 slip and not your income tax? Like others have said, it is very unusual for an employer to file your income tax for you unless you are working abroad and the company hires an accounting firm to file your taxes for you.

Make sure you get your own copies of the T4 slips and verify the information on them is accurate.

You can also call CRA 1-800-959-8281 to ask what they have on file in terms of T4 slips for 2007 and if there has been a return filed or not.

    Yes do call CRA...

    Good luck.

  6. This is very strange, and is something I've never heard of.  For one thing, nobody can file your income tax return without your signature.  So no, your return has NOT been properly filed and you will not be receiving a refund for a while.  The most that might be happening is that they filed (and why would you or they do that, by the way??) something, and you will be receiving a letter from CRA asking for further information, namely a signature.

I would contact Canada Revenue Agency immediately and ask for information on your file.  They can tell you the status of your return.

Again, an employer filing income tax for an employee is VERY strange....
