Me & my bf are of same gotra ie. gautam. it is said that within same gotras marraige isnt possible. is it so?

is it real and necessary and precautionary to not marry a person of same gotta to which i belong to? what can happen if i do so? any problems in conceiving a child? what do pandits (guruji's) have their take on it?

  1. I would say that would deal heavily with how traditionally Hindu you two, and your families, are. Most Hindus of today ave abandoned many of the old ways, for more modern takes. It's a personal choice. Personally I wouldn't let lineage clans stand between you unless it is a belief you hold very dear. And yes, some Hindus do believe that those of the same Gotra are the equivalent of siblings, so if you are going in for approval, it will likely be denied.
