Meadow Bank Owl and Westferry Kaden in conflict in the Stadium Bookmakers Standard Trophy
The Stadium Bookmakers Standard Trophy has pulled together some top of the line hounds which include the finalist of the Steel City Cup, Meadow Bank Owl, and the Yorkshire Leger finalist, Mays Stewart. The 500 metres flat race will be staged at Nottingham on Monday, 17th September.
Sadly enough, the line-up has failed to add anything impressive on their records lately, and all do not have emerged from the same racing track over which they will race tonight.
One of the most tuned up candidates is, Westmead Hawk’s son, Meadow Bank Owl. His last two outings were at Nottingham over 500 metres. He hopped on to the second position from the third that he attained in the second last attempt.
The B. Draper trained ended third in the Magners Gents Standard Trophy on 27th August, 2012 at Nottingham over 500 metres.
Getting crowded after racing out of the fourth gate resulted in his helplessness to break free from the traffic that he got stuck in.
The race was won by the favourite entry, Romeo Recruit, who timed the track distance in 29.80 seconds.
Surprisingly the second time that he raced, it was over the same distance, same race course and the winner turned out to be the same too. On 3rd September, 2012, the three-year-old black dog qualified as the runner-up of the Stadium Bookmakers Standard Trophy over 500 metres.
Once again the reason for defeat turned out to be the same, getting crowded after taking flight from the fourth stall.
Romeo Recruit, the favourite entry, got crowned the winner in 29.72 seconds.
The 7 to 2 entry has moved on from the fourth to the third box for the race tonight.
Improving up on the recent performance will assure the chances of the four-year-old, Westferry Kaden, to land the race tonight. The black dog was positioned second in the Grade A1 500 metres flat on 8th September, 2012 at Nottingham over 500 metres.
Getting obscured made him miss the race by the hefty margin of 8 ½ lengths as the winner, Highclere Chief, won the race in 30.11 seconds.
The A. Stone trained will race from the fourth gate and is backed by 8 to 1 odds for succeeding the race tonight.
