  1. Yes you will be able to still use them..

  2. Yes, beetles are good for fishing and breeding meal worms is easy. Here's a link for breeding mealworms:

Crickets are excellent bait, but I don't know much about breeding them... It's said that you can lay out cardboard on the ground to attract them.

Heres another link on how to raise fishing bait:

  3. you are so pretty but nasty

  4. Mealworms are super easy to breed and raise so you may find that you end up with to many and fast.Keep the beeltes for breed stock and the rest get rid of!

You can use the beetle for panfish but since if you raise mealies you should have enough bait and pet food to keep you very happy.Slice potatoe for food and allow to grow you will have mealies up to an inch long.

  5. meal worms are easier to handle than the beetles they grow up to be and easier to fish with...than the beetles.  I've never raised crickets - used them for bait allot though.

Thing with crickets down south is that they attract spiders - normally the brown recluse - be careful.

I know mealworms and waxworms work great for panfish and trout bait - you can slow their maturing by keeping them in the refrigerator...they're cheap enough so you shouldn't really have to raise them....

Night crawlers are easier to raise - been there - done that....

    Hope it helps...

  6. I've used mealworms alot for trout fishing. They are good for alot of fish, but 50 lbs??? That is a heck of a lot of mealworms. Have you given any serious thought to where you are going to keep 50 lbs. of mealworms??? I used to buy them in 1,000 lot quantities and they were around for most of the fishing season. Dude, 50 lbs. is gonna fill up your refrigerator. You may want to run this by your Mom while she is still talking to you and you have a place to live. And by the way, I didn't have much luck when they morphed into beetles.
