Meandmyshadow set sights on winning Northumbrian Water Handicap
Meandmyshadow seems to be in a great position to prevail in the Northumbrian Water Handicap at Newcastle in England on Friday, August 17, 2012. She will be up against some relatively weaker opponents, which will give her a solid chance to bag a cash prize
of £1,617 from the class-6 event.
A total of 12 runners have been attracted towards the 6 furlong event, but none of them seems to be in a position to match Meandmyshadow. She has been given a general starting price of 3 to 1 by the bookmakers and the punters will also be risking the maximum
number of bets in her favour.
Although, Premier Choice has been given equally good odds for the race, but it will be hard for him to finish at the top today. He has never managed to win any event in his career, thus the bettors will not be interested in risking a lot of money on him.
On the other hand, Meandmyshadow has managed to win six events in her career, thus she will be full of confidence right now. She does not have an ideal strike rate, but her overall record is not that bad at all.
The four-year-old filly has represented her team in 36 races after debuting in April 2010. She got the attention of everyone right after her first race, where she was priced 25 to 1 by the bookies. No one would have expected her to fight for the top three
positions, but she ended up second overall.
Right in her next race, the Alan Brown’s trainee was given pretty decent odds and she lived up to the expectations of everyone, by finishing on top of the table by half a length. She gave a couple of more decent performances afterwards, but failed to continue
delivering such results with consistency.
The young filly has raced at Newcastle on three occasions, but never managed to take the top spot at this venue. She has got a very good chance of improving this record, but it will take a special effort from her to achieve this feat. Dale Swift will be
the one partnering her in the race today.
