  1. Impeachment means to bring formal charges against the president (it does NOT mean to remove from office, as many erroneously believe).  This means that a lot of money would be spent on prosecuting him not to mention the money that would be spent on lawyers needed to defend him.  This may take the president's focus off of his job at hand and would also become a media circus that would take the focus off other important issues.  I not sure what the rest of the article said, but it could also mean that there was not enough evidence to warrant bring charges against, or impeaching, the president.

  2. Impeach means to vote out of office. To be impeached is a long and hard process. Everyone in office is participated. To me it sounds like they didnt want to burden the office with trying to impeach the president when there are other more important things the office needs to worry about right now.

  3. He didn't want to make all the people involved with that president have to deal with the process of impeaching the president. (getting rid of him)

  4. Sounds like you're talking about Nixon.

Knowing he (Musharraf or Nixon) would probably be impeached, he opted to resign rather than face the humility and scandal that the process would require.

Obviously Clinton did not feel this way as he WAS impeached, but maybe he thought that would not happen to HIM.

  5. Musharraf resigned rather than put the office of the presidentcy through the impeachment process. He did not want the legal positon of the presidency to be subjected to the examination of the impeachment process.
