  1. I'm not sure, but it looks like a combination of "Hari" meaning "brown, yellow, tawny" and "chand" meaning "to shine."

  2. Harichand is derived from Hari & Chandra .

Hari can be used as a generic term for God or specifically for Lord Vishnu (in Indian mythology)

Chandra (in Sanskrit) is frequently shortened to Chand as in this case. It means Moon.

so Harichand (it is usually spely with a single 'r', but hey, it IS a proper noun!) is literally Lord & Moon.

    hope this helps

  3. In Hindu mythology, there was a great king, known for his impartiality, judgment, honesty and adherence to truth. His name was Harishchandra. He was an extremely respected figure. Many parents aspiring that their offspring should be possessor of these qualities, select this name or names similar to this one.
