Question:

Measure room acoustics audio software?

I'm looking for a audio software that can measure room acoustics as well as pink noise, white noise and something that I can tune EQ with. Any Pro software in this category helps. Price is no concern. Thanks

  1. The problem is not the software - the problem is you need a calibrated microphone hooked up to your laptop that can send the signal to the audio system then measure the resulting sound and graph the results while doing sweeps.

Do an internet search for "RTA Software" and you will find a bunch of software.   RTA - Real Time Analysis.

  3. i don,t know of any software that would measure and actually help you correct your accoustic value, but what my amplifier does is measures the room and automatically adjusts the amps levels to pink noises ,thus giving the flat line we require.with the software you can measure the room but then what?how would you correct it.my amplifier measures all the parameters in the system as well as the speaker impedence values, then corrects the values from there.

  4. I do this very thing with my computer. I have a Behringer ECM8000 omnidirectional microphone connected to a Behringer Xenyx 802 preamplifier. This then goes into a E-mu 1212m sound card. For software, I have many options however the quickest and most user friendly is TrueRTA. This software comes in multiple "levels". The highest allows for the most narrow resolution but also costs more.

With a simple quick frequency sweep the program sends out a 20Hz-20KHz sweep out the 1212m's digital out to my receiver where it is played through my speakers. Mic picks this up and its signal is read in software and a FFT transform on this results in the final data.

All in all this setup is fairly expensive. Here is a cost breakdown:

    Emu 1212m - $150

    Behringer ECM8000 - $50

    Behringer Xenyx 802 - $60

    TrueRTA software - $100(for "level 4")

The Emu 1212m is a professional recording card. It's use is not a necessity but it is important to have a line in on whatever card you use. The more linear the frequency response of the analog to digital converter on the board of your card the better. I would recommend in investing in one made for recording if accurate results are important to you.
