My daughter has liquid medicine which is amoxicillian 5mg/5ml overall? what does this mean? Is this 1mg per ml?Her dosage has been increased to 1 mg and I do not know how to measure this amount? What would 1mg equal in ml? Is it 1 ml? I am using an oral syringe which measures in ml, and I dont know how to figure what 1mg would be on the syringe? Your help is greatly appreciated!!!

  1. You are correct to think it is another way of saying 1 mg/ml. It is labelled as 5 mg/5 ml as liquids such as this are often given using a 5 ml spoon.

If you are giving this with a syringe then 1ml would be the correct amount to give in order to get 1 mg of amoxycillin.

In general I would suggest you make sure your pharmacist clarifies this for you, if ony for your own peace of mind.
