Measuring and buying laminate flooring.?

By percentage, how much waste should you account for when purchasing laminate flooring......does it vary by style?

  1. 7 to 8% added to the total that you will need for the square footage of the room is pretty standard.


  2. Yes it does vary on style it also depends on a persons average on making mistakes when cutting

  3. Rule of thumb is about 10%. If you have, for instance, a room with odd shapes, pipes, etc to cut around, you'll probably need at least that. If you have a large, rectangular room, you may not need that much. But it's a pretty safe number.

  4. Brendon if you are not experienced at laying laminate floor, I would calculate room size, and buy two extra boxes.  Most boxes average about 20 sq. ft. If you was doing 15 X 12 room which is 180 sq. ft..  You would have bought 22% more then you need for your job.  Save left over  for future use, if you get damaged area.   It will sure come in handy, to have on hand.
