I went to the doctor today and I am 25 weeks pregnant. My fundal height was showing that I am 27 weeks pregnant. My doctor didn't say much so should I be concerned?

  1. Measuring a week or 2 off isn't a big deal, it can sometimes depend on the baby's position.  I am 34 weeks and measured 32 weeks today, and measured 30 weeks at 32 weeks.  My doc said her head is down real low so that's probably why.

  2. Fundal height is only a guide - it's very difficult for a doctor to do an accurate measurement every time, so if you went back today and had another, it could well be different! Remember too, that the baby goes through growth spurts, so it's the average growth that's important, not so much the specific measurement on the day.

If you've put on weight yourself (not just baby bump) that can affect the measurement too.

Please don't worry too much about it :-)

  3. Nah don't worry I measured 3 weeks ahead the entire time. Its not to much to worry about, the Dr. told me that stuff was just all guidelines for your pregnancy.

  4. No, don't be alarmed...  You can go 2 weeks either way...  I am always 2 weeks behind...  They get concerned with anything more, but it's perfectly okay and common to measure 2 weeks ahead or 2 weeks behind. :-)  Good Luck!

  5. i was the same as you but bigger at 25w i was showing nearly 30 in my fundal height but my daughter was 8lbs 3oz born at 39weeks so she was just a big baby. It depends on how big your baby is and how small you are i am very petite so it looked like i was carrying around a giant beach ball on my chest.

  6. no it mostly means the baby is growing faster he is the size of 27 weeks and not little as 25 weeks you are going to have a big  healthy baby

  7. No, you shouldn't be concerned.  It doesn't mean anything wrong, and it doesn't even mean that your baby is big.  Your fundal height is supposed to be 2 cm within your weeks of pregnancy.  So, you're perfectly normal.  Also, it can vary throughout the day depending on baby's position, bladder fullness, bowel fullness, etc.  I'll be 20 weeks pregnant tomorrow, and over the course of a day, my fundal height can vary from 19-22 cm.
