  1. if you are replacing it because it's broken - bring in the broken one - if not try a higher end sporting goods store - like bass pro or gander mountain or a local BIG store....if you have a cabelas near you...i remember when I was growing up the few mom & pop bait shops could help you with almost anything fishing or refer you somewhere that could...also forgot Dicks sporting goods...

  2. i would buy a rod tip pack from walmart it comes with everything and 3 tips it works well

  3. ask the person in the store they can tell you according to the size of the others.

  4. Get a ruler out. The rod tips sizes are 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, and so on.

that means 4/64th of an inch, 4.5/64th of an inch and so on.

measure the end that broke off and see how big that is. If this is confusing to you, buy a rod tip sizer from cabelas or bass pro and figure out the size.

  5. You can measure it, but it's hard to get a precise measurement unless you have a caliper. You're better off just taking the rod into a tackle shop and trying tips until you find one which fits exactly. Most tackle shops will even glue it on for you for free (or maybe a for buck or two).
