This question is for extreme vegans and animal rights folk.

If all humans were to follow your advice and cease eating meat tomorrow. What would happen on the planet? If the same were to happen for ALL carnivores?

  1. humans are the deadliest carnivore out there.....

  2. we would all be dead....the animal populations would over populate and suffer from disease and death

  3. If it weren't for carnivores such as tigers and hawks, we'd be dead with no food around.

  4. A Two part question all of it a Fairy Tale or nonsense. Why not just say, let's redesign the world, only have vegans, people and animals alike?

However the natural food web has evolved, then that is how it is. Mankind exploits other people, animals and their habitats. Some animals to extinction, some areas to  desertification. So if mankind overpopulates, over consumes, exploits the natural environment then by becoming Vegans there would be less reason to do this

  5. NO way NO how ...

    THINK OVERPOPULATION ANIMALS OVER HUMANS.....

OOOH scary eeeh i get it its a the scary question of holloween month good one .... got scared for a minute there ...

mmmmm this piece of chicken breast is sooooo delicious

    want some.... ;p

  6. That's two questions.  Humans have the intellect to realize that they have a choice.  They can listen to information, digest it, and realize that vegetarian or vegan diet tends to be healthier, are more environmentally-friendly, and more civilized, as you're not relying on the dead flesh of other species for sustenance.

Humans are omnivores.  Wild carnivores don't have the intellectual capacity to learn and reason, and their bodies are designed to function on a meat-based diet.

What would happen if the human omnivores gave up meat?  Healthier civilizations, lower health-associated costs, more land available for other uses, and no guilt associated with consuming species that are often raised expressly for consumptive purposes.

Not vegan, extreme or otherwise but a confirmed vegetarian who enjoys domestic and wild animals alive without a death sentence looming in their future.

  7. Humans act as predators in a completely different way to other animals. Most of our meat is farmed. Therefore we are a predator that actually increases the density of our prey. This means that whilst other large predators may play a role in limiting prey populations (this is complicated and not always the case) we artificially increase our prey population, often causing habitat destruction and overgrazing.

The effect of natural predators is varied and has been the subject of many research projects. Large predotors can certainly play a role in maintaining the health of a population by targeting the old and infirm. However, there is some evidence from the Oovardeplassen in Holland that large herbivore populations can self-regulate in the absence of predators through a reduced birth rate etc.

Large predators can also control populations of smaller predators. For example, in the absence of wolves, foxes can increase in number so the range of prey targeted can shift.

Finally, some prey populations can increase at a rate far faster than their predators. An example is lemmings. In a good lemming year the population is too large for predators to have a significant effect.

In summary, humans can't be compared to other predators and whilst prey numbers can definitely influence predator numbers, the reverse isn't always the case.

One things for sure. Life wouldn't be as interesting without carnivores.

  8. Meat is a requirement of the human body. Not for the Meat itself but for the Meat Proteins which are required. Not all proteins are the same that is why nuts and things are not a great replacements for good meat. Meat however should be consumed at lower rates by most Americans we all eat too much of it for the most part. We also need to get away from beef as a source of meat and eat more environmentally sound sources of meat proteins, like sheep, goats, and other animals the process feed into muscle easier then beef.

  9. This is one of the more silly questions asked because many because animals don't choose to eat meat or veg they are constantly struggling to survive by consuming the prey they are designed to catch.  People who choose not to eat meat or eggs or fish can do so with no risk of dieing and therefore are not making a decision based on survival but on choice or through compassion for animals that they don't want to eat.  By the way people are not carnivorous and in many parts of the world pre agriculture probably ate fruit and vege if meat wasn't available.

  10. :\ ALL Carnivores could not be able to stop eating animals because some animals need to eat meat such as cats.
