  1. Often high in fat and cholesterol.  And it's very concentrated food so it's easy to overindulge, the two small patties in a Big Mac are a days worth of meat.  Then the undetermined effects of hormones and antibiotics that may or may not be present.

  2. Meat has protein, yes, but it also has cholesterol, saturated fat,and red meat is bad for your digestive system ( hard to digest).

If one must eat red meat, they should limit it to wild, lean cuts

And no more than a couple servings pr wk,

    I'm a vegetarian,but I still eat fish.

Fish has TONS of protein, and is without the nasty stuff.

  3. If you don't eat too much, nothing. Alternate sources of protein include fish, soy, peanut butter etc... Clearly some meat is more lean than others and worthy of consideration. A serving of top sirloin is an excellent compromise between a very lean cut of meat and a great source of protein. Other cuts of meat are "better" but depend on the application.  New York steaks are excellent but more expensive, not as lean, and arguably the second best in flavor compared to a sirloin. Most people would argue a New York or Filet or a T-bone are the best cuts. It's all in your preference but I love T-bone BUT if I have to compromise Top Sirloin is the best. Nothing wrong with meat as far as I can tell.

  4. Ok, first of all. Yes, high fat high cholesterol, blah blah. But you can get lean cuts as well. So what's bad?

Well, what happens to meat when you leave it out on the counter in warm weather for a few days? It rots. A few days is how long it takes meat to get through and, er, out of your gut. Considering that it is around 98.6 down there, how fresh do you think that meat is gonna be? ROTTEN. So do you want rotten meat festering constantly inside your colon? Good, now for the next point.

Meat takes loads of digestive energy. It makes you tired. Why? Well, the body takes the protein in the meat and has to convert it to amino acids. Amino acids are what the body really needs. So when you eat meat, you are forcing your body to take extra steps to break it down into something it can actually use. Therefore you are expending energy rather than getting it. Hence, the tiredness. Does it start to make sense?

Do I need to go on about uric acid and cancer and chemical reactions too? Well, I hope you understand a little better now.

Bottom line? Meat makes you old, tired, and smelly. Cheers!

  5. Meats have a variety of fat levels. Those high in fat can lead to heart disease. The others, not so much.

  6. www.meat.org.  That should be enough.

  7. Meat is high in fat and it raises the chances of heart disease.

  8. Goat cries a lot when she is getting culled.

  9. This website was very helpful:

    http://www.vernoncoleman.com/eatingfor.h...

Some diseases that are more common in meat eaters rather than vegetarians and vegans:

Anaemia, appendicitis, arthritis, breast cancer, cancer of the colon, cancer of the prostate, constipation, diabetes, gall stones, gout, high blood pressure, indigestion, obesity, piles, strokes and varicose veins

Also note that if you eat meat you consume hormones, drugs and other chemicals that have been fed to the animals before they were killed. I don't need to tell you that those items are bad for you, it's quite obvious that they are. Fat is also a very large threat when eating meat. More than 75% of the calories in meat come from fat.

Meat is also high in cholesterol. Cholesterol is only found in animal products, including meat. There's not a trace of it in any plants, so switching to a plant-based diet automatically means you're safe. Cholesterol causes heart attacks, strokes, paralysis, and other fatal diseases.

"It's generally assumed that this meat is okay for our bodies; certainly, most Americans have trouble imagining meatless main dishes. But what, exactly, gives us the impression that meat-eating is healthy? Is it data from certified studies? No. Is it long-term observations of our peers' dietary trends? No. Think about who wants us to buy their products: the powerful, $60 billion meat industry. Similar to tobacco companies (except much less well-known), they flood us with meat propaganda."
