Mebendazole?

when do you take the pills ? can i just take them even if i am not sure if i hav worms and is it safe and does it has negative effects?

  1. I must have prescribed several bathtubs full of mebendazole before I retired. I don't recall any negative effects from parents. Generally we treated the index case, usually a child between 3 and six, as well as other family members who were over the age of two or not pregnant.

    In the mid 1970's there was an article in one of the pediatric journals stating that children with recurrent pinworms were better socially adjusted than those who never got them. Makes sense in a macabre sort of way.


  2. Take the pills before or after the meals , chew them before swallowing . Yes you can use it if you have worms , take 100 mg twice daily for 3 days . Short term therapy for intestinal worms is free of adverse effects . Dont use it if you are pregnant or if you are administering it for a child under 2 years :D
