Question:

Mechanic Career Question?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I am thinking about going to Wyotech to become a Auto Mechanic and had some questions.

1. I would like to eventaully make $35 an hour, is this realistic?

2. I would also like to work on BMW's, or Porshes, Or mecedies. Do they pay more? (I dont really care if they do because I would rather work on nice cars anyway then the average junk, but just wondering)

3. Also, is tech schools like wyotech expensive?

4. Lastly is there any type of mechanic job that pays better than Auto Mechanic?

I live in Sacramento, California if this helps. I would like for people to answer who are in these careers or someone who is certain they know. Thank you for all your answers.

  1. i am a licenened ford tech. and $35 i really high.

i`m at mid $20`s maybe high end cars pay more but they are very complicated and warranty work pays really crappy.

i think those schools are expensive but you don`t need them to get into a dealership(just apply as an apprentice)

i`m sure aircraft mechanic pays well.

i`ve worked here for 8 years and it has good and bad like every other job.

    don`t forget about tool expense.

    good l**k

  2. the answer to all your questions is yes, when it comes to boat mechanics if you work on your own,  you will make a lot more, also if you work on diesels and yachts you will make alot more , however it is harder than working on cars. I am a boat mech and I Like it but I opened my own business. I average about double of what your asking however you woudl make about 25-30 p/hr if you worked for someone else, I am in florida, might get more in Ca.

  3. 1.yes
