Ok, I was wondering

In HS, my grades were horrible, I never studied. (due to other reasons, I never had time)

But I want to become a doctor really Bad. In your opinion, If I was to do Excellent in College (Pre Med) Nothing below a B (Just for example) Would it be possible for me to get accepted to Med School?

I know that there will be other things to determine if I go or not, However I am just worried about the whole grade thing.

I just want your opinion.

Thanks

  1. I hate to break this to you, but in college, 'excellent' is not a B average. A B grade is probably as low as you should get (good but don't shoot for B's) and C's are frowned upon. 3.5 will get you considered. 3.8 and higher will help you much more.

I know people that had 4.0's and still had trouble getting in. Don't settle for lower grades.

  2. Colleges don't care how you did in high school.  They only ask for your college grades.  But you need to maintain at least a 3.5 GPA in college to have a shot at med school.  So get ready to work.

  3. As already mentioned, high school grades don't factor in at all. Whether your did horribly or were on top of your class, they only look at university grades. You should really be striving for an A average for medical school... 3.7 and above. :)
