EA’s next installment in the reboot of the series has been confirmed and will be developed by Danger Close and use Battlefield 3’s FrostBite 2.0 engine.
The Medal of Honor series was the first-person shooting game on the PlayStation One and PC and it continued that run of domination onto the PlayStation 2 with the classic, Medal Of Honor: Frontline.
However, after Medal of Honor: Airborne, which was released on the current generation of home consoles the series disappeared and the World War 2 shooter was never seen again. That is until EA decided to revive the series with the help of Danger Close studios.
The series was given a modern day reboot and while the game was far from perfect, it was a worthy addition to the Medal of Honor series and had one of the best endings in any of the games in the series.
That was all the way back in 2010 and although rumours of a sequel to the game never let up, EA only made the news official last year.
This time around though, the publisher has gone one step further and showed that its marketing department does have some imagination and instead of just adding a ‘2’ to the title the sequel has been made Medal of Honor: Warfighter.
Oddly though, we seem to remember another game that had the same last name; something about ‘Ghosts’ doing ‘Recon’ using ‘Advanced’ technology.
Bad jokes aside a blurb appeared on the Medal of Honor blog which read, “We’re excited to bring you up to speed on the next Medal of Honor, titled Medal of Honor Warfighter.”
No dramatics there as the statement got straight to the point. It went on to tease, “More details to come in the next few weeks but, we’d like to share a visual inspiration and representation of this title now.”
Below was picture of a US soldier with a black skull cap and an M4 Assault Rifle looking off into the distance in a semi-alert pose with Medal of Honor Warfighter written in white text on the orange-brown backdrop.
It also turned out that the game would be developed exclusively by Danger Close and that DICE would not be helping out apart from lending their FrostBite 2.0 engine.
