Medea heading for success in the Davisbakerycaribbean Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Windsor as her second career chance
The Class 5 Davisbakerycaribbean Maiden Fillies’ Stakes will be held at Windsor over a mile and sixty-seven yards on Monday, 30th April. Competing for the £2,264 purse are fourteen runners who are three-year-old.
The line-up for the race is highly versatile with three racing their career debut and five of the entries racing their seasonal debuts today.
None of the candidates for the race have been able to post anything impressive on their profile besides Medea who managed scoring second and that too during the only start of the previous season. The only surprising element of the race will be the three
who are breaking into the career and might just turn out to be pleasant performers.
Medea, Danehill Dancer’s three-year-old chestnut filly out of mare, Scoop Of Gold, is a bright prospect. Under training Sir Michael Stoute, Medea secured the second position in the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E B F Maiden Fillies’ Stakes
(Division I) over seven furlongs on 6th September at Lingfield.
Ihsas was the 10/11 favourite winner of the race and coupled with Frankie Dettori, she led the runner up, Medea, by 3 ¼ lengths. Medea was guided through the track distance by Jimmy Fortune.
Settling third behind the winner on the track of ten was Berwin.
It is after a very long break of around seven months that the three-year-old will roll in for the second career start and the seasonal debut. This time the distance, venue and the jockey are different. She will have Ryan Moore onboard for the race.
Sir Michael Stoute has a lucky 23% strike rate at Windsor ever since the last five seasons when it comes to his three-year-olds. Qualifying as the runner up in the career debut and then being on a break for a good number of months should get the performance
notched up to victory.
The field is not exactly competitive but Medea should be vigilant while racing as there are many who have stayed deprived of victory since quite a while and might just be looking out for a chance to post a victory today, specifically the ones who have not
raced ever before and want to leave an impression through the debut.
