So..i sterilized the tubing today, since i haven't done it so long. I know the tubing doesn't really come in contact with the milk, but i figured it wouldn't hurt. Anyway, I used one of medela's microsteam bags. After it was done i hooked it up and let the pump run some to let it dry a little and then i hung them to be sure to completely dry. Well a couple hours later i went to get them and on the OUTSIDE of the tubing there was almost this chalky type residue(that is just the best way to describe it). Not tons, but i have never noticed it before...Is this normal?

  1. Its from the water.  Nothing wrong though.  You can contact Medela and they will replace the tubing for free.

  2. yup totally normal, same happened to me.

  3. It's discoloring because you sterilized it.

    Mine did the same.

  4. Same thing happened to me...I do remember reading in a pamplet that is what happens with the tubing and that it is fine...

  5. Yes! The same thing happened when I steam cleaned my tubing.  However I have no idea what caused it.  Sorry!

  6. the chalky residue is caused by minerals in the water/steam! it is completly ok, try to get it off though cause it can keep building and clog it up! :)
