Question:

Media Studies GCSE and Science GCSE next year, I'm only 13, ideas on how to cope?

My school puts the most able students through to do two GCSES in Year 9, and I was just wondering whether anybody here on Answers had done the Media Studies GCSE and what sort of thing do you do for it? And also, what's the coursework like? And most importantly, was it fun? :D

Also, do any of you have exam stress tips? Because next year is going to be so busy, because of these GCSEs, and my drama group is being upped to a big performance a term, which is going to be a lot of work.

Thanks in advance.

  1. Ive just finished my first year of GCSE Media Studies and ive found it real easy so far. It's not like you have to work anything out really, its just a few technical terms and some common sense. The coursework can be tedious as some pieces come to at least 10 pages but its not all writing. A lot of it is drawn plans, and stuff done on computers. Ive done 3 pieces of coursework and the first i had to design 2 movie posters for 2 different genres, the second i had to make a storyboard of a modern soap opera and the last bit ive done was record my own childrens radio station. Im currently doing a magazine which is the final piece and counts for 50percent of coursework marks. I find Media is fun, but some universities and starting to say they dont accept it as a proper GCSE because its to easy. From my 1st and 2nd pieces of coursework i so far have an A grade for coursework, so im set for A*. Its a fun subject and pretty easy. And GCSE Science is compulsory at my school. So you should have to do it anyway when it comes to GCSEs.

    Hope i helped. :D

  2. well im doing GCSEs next year and all i can say is you need to relax.

ask for help from teachers and classmates, and keep your ideas for any coursework within reach.

you dont want to come up with a brilliant idea that wont allow you time for anything else.

    good luck.
