Can someone provide me with an example of media reporting objectively and an example of the media not reporting objectively?

If i was to mention about the war on iraq and that some of the news channels like the BBC and CNN report live, show whats happened lately, show real facts and don't try and fancy it up to make politicians better....would that come as being objective or not?

  1. Objective reporting is mostly about demonstrating that a bias, on the part of the reporter of news company, does not exist. For example, look at The New York Times...people perceive them to be biased. Most people think they are liberal while some think they are conservatively biased. That isn't necessarily to say they are, but it shows that people perceive them to be and so their news is not perceived to be objective all of the time.

It is a lot about perception as well as using and supporting fact. Objective news tends to weigh the pros and cons in a way that lets the reader decide and doesn't try to persuade the reader. Some reporting you mentioned could fall under that category and with the correct examples you could make a strong point to substantiate your case that certain news channels are objective.

  2. Surely this question should be

"Can someone come round to my house and finish this assignment for me cause I can't be bothered to look for the answers on the net and work it out for myself"

with that work ethic you have a great future in front of you...

  3. An example, there are never good ones, of not reporting objectively is the Fox News coverage of the US Elections... pick a year, any year, including this one.

Objective reporting... a good example is something like the coverage by the BBC TV News of the Dr David Kelly saga... when one "arm" of the BBC was reporting on another "arm" of the BBC, including the resignation of the Director General.
