Medicaid for my baby!?

I need help here if anybody knows anything. I just had a baby 3 weeks ago and while i was at the hospital, i applied for emergency Medicaid for me (im not a citizen yet) and for Medicaid for my baby thru ChamberlinEdmonds . They take applications at the hospital. The lady that took application said that my baby qualify for medicaid. So I am calling them every week to check on the status for my baby's medicaid, but they say its too early, they dont know nothing yet. So does anybody knows how long does it take?? I have to take my baby to the doctor on check-ups. So this is my other question. I heard Medicaid covers Dr appts for 3 months BACK. Is that true?? Can I still take my baby to the Dr. appt and they will take her as she has Medicaid already? Thanks for any help!! By the way, im located in Orlando if that has to do anything with Medicaid.

  1. I looked it up for my state(NH) and yes they do pay retroactive( 3 months back).  It can take over a month for them to process your application, maybe longer due to the fact that you are not a citizen.

  2. medicaid does cover doctor appointments up to 3 months back so you can go ahead and take your baby to the doctors. Make sure where you take her accepts medicaid and they ask for your medicaid number tell them your medicaid is pending and they will still see your child. Also medicaid can take about 2-3 months to go through and it shouldnt take longer then that.

  3. They will go back 3 months for outstanding medical bills.  It takes them 30-45 days sometimes to approve Medicaid.  I had my child at WP and I took him to the outpatient clinic for his first couple of appointments.  They had a "Medicaid pending" statement in their system so I was able to take him there with no problem and never had issues once it was FINALLY approved.
