My son is 10 day's old and I have a first insurance but I was trying to get him approved for Medicaid as a second insurance but they said it didn't go through with the 2nd insurance so I had to pay for it and they said bring his id number for medicaid within 7 days but what I understand is it takes 30 days for medicaid to go through

  1. Reqwuest tyhry , they will l;iten and i am certain they ,when they come first time tlk to them nicely not to drag for 30 days but for the sake of caring baby they may slowly do ?

  2. There is a pending period of 30-45 days with medicaid...and if it was the primary insurance you would be able to take him to the doc after you saw a caseworker(when you filled paperwork out) because even tho its pends for 30-45 days when you are approved it goes back 3 months and pays the bills that have accumulated over that period of time from when you applied to when you were approved. Seeing as it is his secondary insurance(not being mean but this is seriously how it is considered)...its not TOP priority to get him on it seeing as he already has a primary. Even tho this sounds kinda bad, they kinda put you off to the side for a bit while they take care of the ones who will have this as their primary insurance and let your application follow through until it is approved instead of making it top priority to get him approved.

Also not being mean or anything but medicaid usually has their heads so far up their butts that more than half the time your application will either be denied for a stupid reason OR have to be resubmitted due to it not going through correctly. I have had to use it as primary insurance for both my daughters until my husbands insurance approval period rolled around and they ended up cutting my daughters off between 3 and 6 months of age...for no reason at all...so don't depend too much on them because anymore its who you know inside the medicaid office that will help you out and get your approved.

Best of Luck tho, hope all works out
