Okay so this doesn't really have to do with pregnancy, but if it helps any I am pregnant lol. I always get answers here though, and I figured yall would probably know. Okay so I have medicaid and I have a dentist apt. tomorrow, well got a call from the dentist office today saying that they still could not find any coverage for me with united concordia. By the time I got their message the office was closed so is united concordia another name for medicaid? my mom said they have a formal name for it but she is not sure what it is. If it is just a mistake on part of the dentist then I am okay, but if I am not showing that I have medicaid than that can be a problem. Oh yeah, I got my medicaid card this month, so if I show it to them will they see me? Thanks to all, I really don't want to drive over there if I won't get seen because my dentist is 45minutes away.

  1. Many states do now have insurance companies tied in with Medicaid like I have Unison but it is still considered a medical card.  If you have just a medical card/medicaid card then I would take that in with you to make sure they have the right insurance information on record for you.

  2. medicaid is the name of state insurance but the company themselves are a couple different companies depending were you live will be a different company. go with your card and first they will bill that company and if it does not go through then they bill the state which is medicaid. if you do get a bill sent to you then you take it to the medicaid office and they will fix the problem.

  3. Call them as soon as the office opens, and let them know that you have the card show your enrollment.  You will know if it will be that easy, or they may say that they checked it and that it showed you weren't covered.  Then call Medicaid and research what is going on.  Chances are that they'll settle it, and you just have to reschedule.

I have been through all this when I was pregnant and had Medicaid.  Someone had made an error somewhere, and I had to get on the phone to explain my rejection by the office, they checked into, and then things were okay again.

I would not drive over there.  Just make those calls and it will save you time and energy.  I promise it will all work out.

  4. Is your Medicaid for pregnancy only? If it is for pregnancy only it can't be used for a dentist appointment and you would need to pay out of pocket for the appointment.

Edit: If that is the case then take your card with you to your appointment. They should be able to put that information on your file.

  5. It doesn't matter if the card says that! All the cards are the same except for the number of course! I was scheduled for an eye doctor appointment because they told me it would cover then at the actual appointment they busted out with were sorry it wont cover! I was perturbed because I was there when they told me it would cover. I was there for my daughter getting glasses and specifically asked? Go figure! Sorry but it won't. However if you need to see a specialist for like sleep during pregnancy all you need is for the ob to refer you!

  6. Do you have it before you pego if you do you should have dentier on it if not you will not have it. To be safe call DSS worker

  7. When I was helping clients get set up in the new system a couple of years ago, there were 60 (and counting) insurance companies linked with Medicaid. The last I heard (from my friends who still work there), there are close to 200 companies now.

You should be able to call the number on the back of the Medicaid card and get a recording that will say the company. If not, try looking up concordia on-line and see if you can get the info.

Other than that, do it first thing in the morning before you drive out there. If your appointment is early, and no one will be open yet, leave a message tonight that says you have to confirm with your insurance and will unfortunately have to reschedule. Most places will not try to charge you for this because of insurance issues. Especially if it's Medicaid.

BTW, does the dentist know you are pregnant? You might want to mention this. I have seen people told to come back once they have the kid. Some dentists do not like to x-ray or even do exams/cleanings if the woman is pregnant. I know many doctors who recommend the woman not go to the dentist during her pregnancy. But it's different everywhere. I also know hair dresses who do not like to use any chemicals on anyone who is pregnant.

  8. I'm on Medicare and they call it BagerCare where I live, but I was told that many times and it's on all my paperwork.

    Call Medicaid and ask them.
