i am on medicaid only b/c the insurance i have i have to pay a co-pay for every doctor visit i go to but i was wondering does medicaid pay for like midwives or water births??i want a water birth but im not sure how that work...

  1. Well, depending on how much a midwife costs...but it may be cheaper for you to deliver outside the hospital with a midwife than in a hospital with medicaid because you have to pay a co-pay.  


  2. Yes, they will cover midwife costs (usually must be Certified Nurse Midwife attending a hospital delivery, not a home birth). If you find a hospital that offers waterbirth, it is not like there is an extra fee if you have your baby in a tub compared to in a labor bed, so nothing is billed differently.

    Call your insurance company or medicaid office and ask if there are specific clinics / midwives that will take medicaid insurance so you don't have to hunt to find one.
