Medical Bill?

I'm a international student in Canada and I'm leaving the country for good at the end of April, anyways I went to the E.R, cause I had a "panic attack", the doctor saw me and told me to come back the next day for an ultrasound, anyways long story short the bill came to $300, even though I was having distinct pains ad nothing was found wrong with me. My question is, do I need to pay the bill since I'm leaving the country anyway? If I dont what happens?

  1. yes, you had the medical treatment, so why wouldn't you have to pay? yes, pay it

  2. Another vote for paying for it.  Doctors don't always find things the first time but that doesn't mean we don't have to pay for it.

If you feel that the doctor didn't do a good job than you should complain to the hospital/clinic to see if they will do anything about the bill.  Just not paying the bill because YOU THINK you didn't get appropriate treatment is not the right way to handle it.  File a complaint or pay the bill.

  3. What religion are you?  Morally, you have an obligation to pay for services rendered in good faith.  Whatever afterlife you hope for, well, what you're talking about doing is theft of services.  So, you want to be a thief.

Secularly, the account can be turned over to an international debt collector, and you could have a hard time entering Canada again.
