I am a CPC I have worked doing some billing but I really want to code but all want experience, I have had my CPC for 2 years and non stop applying for jobs and went on interviews NO ONE hires me and no one gives me a chance. I am very smart with an amazing background, my resume is good, I dress appropriately, and I have great interview etiquette due to Resume and Interviewing classes. Anyone else wants to hire me right away this field is so hard to get into even with my certification. What do I do? How can I get a coding job?

  1. same thing i did 3 years ago but what i did sometime clinics don,t need extra receptionist with medical billing and coding u have to do receptionist work also if u don,t find for now u will ask in walk-in that if u need help i can do from home they can give u code at if its really bussy sometime they gave u same thing i did after that u have more experience then again u can go and try with that i have 6months or more experience then they will hire u or may be same plce they will hire u try that.

  2. its just luck of the draw, timing and location,  and if someone more qualified applies at the same time. I was recently offered a coding job   but turned it down,  I didn't feel comfortable taking the position considering t have never worked actually doing coding. (anyway i prefered my current position anyway).

Many places if you get your foot in the door starting in any position, then when a job you really want opens up, you have a better chance of getting it. Many women at the clinic I work at have started as front desk personnel or patient coordinators first and have moved on to other positions when they open up.   They hire in-house first.

  3. People typically want to hire someone with a CCS and RHIT.
