Medical Examiner/Forensic Pathologist in the Court?

The medical examiner has to testify and talk about the autopsy report in the court right? If this is so, does the medical examiner have to have some Law experience or what?

  1. He just speaks to his own knowledge based on his own training, like every other witness.  If he's qualified to do the autopsy, he's qualified to explain his findings in court.


  2. No. His or her field of expertise is the only requirement for testimony.  

  3. No and in most small jurisdictions they do not have to be a doctor, they can take courses in the field and still testify.~
