Medical Physics?

Would someone please help me in understanding medical physics and what it entails. Just a brief understanding and maybe a recommended book. Thank you.

Would ask a more specific question as it's a very broad interpretation. i.e. Medical Physics applies to:

imaging - eg. xrays, ultrasounds, mri, CT scan etc

instruments - e.g. monitors etc

Biomechanics - e.g. dynamic splints by Occupational therapists, exercises by physiotherapists, ergonomics, etc etc.
