Medical School - Shelf Exams 2008

Does anyone have any GOOD advice on what to definitely know for the NBME Shelf exams given at the end of your medical school year?

I am taking

the Medical Physiology

NeuroScience/Anatomy

Biochemistry

shelf exams. I already saw what NBME has posted. But does anyone have any "have to know" advice? I'm most worried about physiology and neuro. Especially the physio shelf exam.

Thanks - Joe

  1. The shelf exams are usually given at the end of each course, as opposed to the end of the school year.  Schools use the shelf exams as a final exam for the course, so it's a comprehensive exam.  The NBME also quality assures the US medical education system via the shelf exams, so each exam covers the entire spectrum of the course material.

You might want to purchase the Board Review Series or the High Yield Series of books available through Lippincott.  They are condensed versions of your textbooks and just give you the salient material.
