Hi, i have a few quick questions.

As a US Citizen,

1. Do I have to take the Entrance Test in India to get into Medical School in India?

2. If no, do I have to pay more tuition than all other students?

3. Is it possible for me to become a Indian Citizen and then apply like all other students? (Ie, take the entrance test and pay less).

Thanks!!!!

  2. Don't rush into things, especially about a desicion regarding med school.  This is your whole career and the life ahead of you, that we are talking about.  Ask yourself  this question..Do you want to practice in India or the US?  If you want to practice in the US..then..you need to know that the curriculum (sp?), they follow there is not very effective, when it's time for you to study/write the steps.

    1) Are you a highschool student?

If yes, then attend an undergrad institution.  Work hard for the next 4 years, and then go to a med school in the states.

If you feel that it takes a lot of time, then you can apply to those pre-med program (~2 years) in the carribean, and then med school, which would enable you to return back, take the steps, and practice.

  3. karnataka has seats reserved for NRI's , on payment basis. u can google it.

but u have to see whether u will be able to cope up , since indian medical education is of very high standards, and far superior to those of any western country . so u have to be very bright or u must be from SC/ST/OBC castes for which there is a quota reserved. The SC/St doctors normally opt for Govt jobs since they are  unfit under normal circumstances and the general paying public who can afford avoid such doctors.

  4. Hi Jermaine,

I think i have replied to your question before as well.

Your enquiry was for ahmedabad and as far as i know there are 2 medical college in ahemdabad and interview process starts after May sometimes when result for class 12th comes out.

You can become Overseas Indian Citizen or Dual citizen but again you have to confirm with Embassy which option is allowed for usa.

Not sure after doing that they will consider you as Indian student or not. ( there could e some clause like you have to be in that country for 3 years or something like that. ..)

As i said earlier there are some payment place , means you need to contact them well in advance to secure that. As there will be lost of rich people's son or daughter in queue for those seats.

Honestly call them directly and findout ..

Medical college is best place to findout all these question.

    Good luck
