  1. yes.

it was a long day (18 hr shift) and i snapped at a nurse who kept asking me lots of questions like: should i give this man painkillers he's in pain, over and over again.

I basically yelled, given whatever i prescribed him for c**p's sake! (using much worse words)

    she cried.

    i apologized the next day.

  2. no

but there are definately cliques involved.. nurses tend to talk to each other and they also tend to make fun of doctors or criticize doctors (when they're not around)

i'm sure there is a lot of resentment towards doctors (who do less work but make a lot more money) than nurses who do all the grunt work and sometimes know even more than the doctors..

  3. I don't think I've ever made any nurse cry, but I've seen surgeons who do it routinely.

Some physicians have overinflated impressions of their own importance.  Most of us are nice.

There are times when tempers flare, especially in the OR when things are not going well.  MOST of the doctors who I've seen yell in the heat of the moment go back and apologize later, and MOST OR nurses understand.

I make a habit of remaining calm and pleasant most of the time, so when I get serious and stressed, the nurses I work with know that I'm not to be ignored.

  4. No, but they when I said "jump" they moved.

Never TRIED to traumatize a nurse. May have without intending to. High-stress jobs can do that.
