Medical insurance?

i am currently working but i dont get medical insurance till im here for one year is there any other way i can get some kind of medical insurance out of my job like some kind of government help if i need any.

  1. Well, you can buy your own policy, through a local, independent agent.

    Just because something isn't provided for you, doesn't mean the government provides!  You can actually provide for yourself!!


  2. You could apply for a short-term temporary insurance policy.  these are available from Blue Cross, Humana, Assurant.  Just check their websites.  

    Since you know you will be going on a group policy in a year, this would be an economical choice.  Short term policies are cheaper because when the term is over it is over whether you are in the middle of a claim or not.  But if you are getting picked up by a group policy the short term would be credible coverage and the new insurance would start paying the claim.

  3. Maybe you could apply for some type of public aid.

  4. No - you might check on getting an individual policy for that year.  Its not cheap by better than getting caught uninsured with major medical expenses.
