Medical oncologists?

i was thinking about becoming one

they are the ones who decide the medicine and treatment path of cancer

i have four questions

do you consider it a REAL JOB,like where you have to work hard?

do you consider it a challange?

what is the salary?

and

Is there room for moving up and growing in this field?

  1. 1) Taking care of cancer patients is a REAL JOB; it requires lots of hard work, perseverance, and compassion

    2) It is terribly challenging and frustrating and rewarding at the same time

    3) Last report I saw said average salary 2007 was 360K though I  wonder whether that is true; what is true is all salaries are dropping due to Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement declining

    4) We are infants in our understanding and treatment of cancer; there is so much progress to be made.
