are there any medical conditions or precedures that would involve one to need to eat things like popsicles and soda? i know this sounds weird to ask, and i have my reasons, i just dont feel like explaining. anyways, please answer. thanks

  1. Not sure about the soda..but popsicles would be eaten if you had your tonsils pulled out, or if you're sick with a sore throat.


  2. No procedures I can think of, but sometimes popsicles and sodas are used to encourage fluid intake, especially in dehydrated pediatric patients. This can be due to diarrhea and vomiting often seen with the flu. Because pediatric patients have a higher percentage of body water, they are more susceptible to dehydration. Kids love sweets, so popsicles and sodas are usually easier to encourage for a dehydrated pediatric patient. It's more fun and easier than having an IV started.
