Medical records how to get them?

like my other questions i was adopted can i call the hospital were my bc says and call them and ask them who my mom is?

My grandmother was adopted, and if the birth parents don't want to be found, tracking them down can be very difficult. hospitals are not allowed to divulge that information over the phone, as a matter of privacy and security for their patients. even if you were able to locate the document, you might find that it's common for biological parents to use pseudo names such as "smith" and "jones" as a way to conceal their identities. a private investigator may be able to help to some extent, but you won't be able to just call and find out.


  2. HIPAA privacy law, states that for medical records to be released the person the medical record pertains to must sign a release, unless it is for billing, continuity of care, or certain research purposes.  You may be able to request your own medical record from your delivery stay.  It will probably be listed as Baby boy (or girl) and the last name of your mother.  You could do that by faxing in a signed form at most hospitals, some require it be in person unless you fax a drivers license or something.
